Winter Stars in STARLAB

It’s chilly outside, but warm inside our giant, inflatable STARLAB planetarium! Children and adults will delight in learning what stars they will find up in the winter sky inside our unique StarLab planetarium. Fly Tying, Basic & Advanced
Saturday, January 3; Basic 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Advanced 2:00 – 4:00 PM
Join expert guides from River Through Atlanta Guide Service and learn how to tie flies from those who tie for a living. For the basic class we will provide the fly vise, tools and materials. The advanced fly tying class is for more experienced tiers wanting to learn new fly patterns and tying techniques. The classes can be taken consecutively. Each student will receive free hatch charts with respective fly patterns. Each Class - $55 non-members/$45 members. Sing a Song of Nature

Laughing Matters – Acting Out Improv

Laughing Matters collects suggestions from the audience covering the setting, characters and themes, and then instantly performs sketches, skits, songs, and stories! Painting Nature in Watercolor

Join professional painter and local teaching artist Maureen Engle for a workshop in watercolor with nature themes. Painting will take place outside, weather permitting. Morning Bird Watching Float on the Chattahoochee River

Rehabilitating Raptors – What We Do at CNC

Join Wildlife Director Kathryn Dudeck to learn about how the CNC Wildlife Department rehabilitates raptors! Topics covered will include medications, diseases, common injuries and medical husbandry. Opossum Breakfast

Zen Gardens with Found Objects

Mammal Study Badge for Boy Scouts
Sunday, January 18, 12:30 – 5:00 PM.
In this 4-hour workshop, discover what makes a mammal a mammal, learn about one of the mammals that CNC has in rehabilitation, find out how we get our biofacts and what we have to do to preserve them and discuss the delicate balance of the Chattahoochee River's ecosystem. CNC Service Day

Historic Paper Mill and the Chimney Trace Tail

Discover the extraordinary beauty of the historic mill ruins, the forest, and creek; and learn of the mysteries of the mills as you walk through time from 1855 to1903. Controlling Invasive Plants in Your Yard and Green Spaces

Building on the information covered in class I, this session will cover the options available to the general public for controlling invasive plants. Included will be non-chemical approaches and information about the impacts of removing invasive plants on natural areas. We will touch on considerations for replanting with native plants. Wildlife Conservation Pin for Cub Scouts
Saturday, January 31, 10:00 – 11:30am.
Bear and Webelos scouts can earn their Wildlife Conservation Pin at CNC! Learn how and why animals use camouflage, discover how you can help conserve wildlife, and make a plaster cast of an animal track to take home! The Wildlife Conservation Belt Loop requirements will not be covered and the Belt Loop is a pre-requisite for this program. $8 scouts/$6 adults (packs only; please, no individuals).
